Academy Award Theater (1946)

The CBS drama series opened March 30, 1946 with Betty Davis starring in "Jezebel". The series continued with productions like "Stagecoach" with Randolph Scott, "The Maltese Falcon" with Humphrey Bogart, "Young Mr. Lincoln" with Henry Fonda, and "Keys of the Kingdom" with Gregory Peck.

Original movie casts were used wherever possible but the series, only aired for one nine month season, not being able to complete with the hour-long ones by The Lux Radio Theatre or The Screen Guild Players.
